Apple was threatened by Italian authorities that they would be punished for not promoting the standard free two-year warranty for which Apple had already been fined for not telling customers about the warranties and may face more if they do not comply.
Apple was fined 900,000 euros in 2011 for failing to mention the standard two-year free warranty. But Apple’s scheme in contrast is that the first year is for free but can be two years if you ask.
